Qualified and motivated teachers are placed in rural community schools to teach Mathematics and English to students in Grades 1–5, in close partnership with local governments.

 

Saathi Teachers are selected through a rigorous recruitment process, including application screening, interviews, candidate assessments, and a 21-day residential training. Once placed, they receive continuous professional support through classroom observations, feedback sessions, regular trainings, and participation in relevant educational events.

 

To address larger classroom sizes and strengthen early-grade outcomes, the Saathi Teachers Programme introduced the Grade Teaching Modality to shift from traditional subject-based rotations to dedicated classroom ownership.

 

Under this approach, teachers take comprehensive responsibility for a single grade, integrating continuous assessments, individual student portfolios, and targeted learning support. The initiative was piloted in two key locations in Sindhupalchok: Shree Satkanyamati Secondary School in Gunsa and Shree Bhotenamlang Secondary School in Bhotenamlang.
